This technology makes me both hopeful and fearful. We are actually developing software that can read our thoughts and respond based on our thoughts. If we have already reached this level of technology how much longer do we have until programs can actually fully read human minds, or even control human minds. I am amazed with this breakthrough and I cannot wait for the technology to be mastered, even if some of the consequences could be devastating.

Jordan, the software is exciting and new, but I believe that the fear of consequences from it is vastly overstated. In my opinion, the real breakthrough we will have to fear is when computers begin to understand human emotions and thought, because only then will they be able to do something with the information they glen from our minds. As far as human misuse of the current implementation of the technology is concerned. It would take an elaborate set up to gain little knowledge from a person that couldn't have been gained in an easier, albeit more primitive, way(think torture or long term confinement).
