Since just about the beginning of mankind, UFOs have been seen around the world, and each person has their own theory on them. A widely accepted theory about these spacecrafts is that they use some sort of anti gravity technology. Sure, we may be able to imitate this effect, but we have not actually gotten to the true state of anti gravity. On our way towards being able to levitate objects, without simply giving an outside force to push against gravity, we have discovered some very intriguing inventions. A recent invention that struck my interest is the anti gravity platform.
The platform is about as long and wide as a sheet of paper and stands only a few inches off the ground, or table in this case. While it is not true anti gravity, it poses the question “What comes next”. The anti gravity table, while it is not actual anti gravity technology, is still incredibly interesting. The platform uses a total of seven magnets, one in each corner and two in the middle as well as the platform itself, in order to create a driving force against gravity that simulates anti gravity. This technology is small, only being able to hold about three ounces, but it is also affordable as well.
Most people hear the phrase “anti gravity” and think of some giant government project that costs trillions of dollars and will be ground breaking technology; either this or Mythbusters. In reality, this small device, while expensive, is still affordable. If you want to get your hands on one it will run about ninety euros averaging out to about one hundred and twenty dollars. While this platform is little more than a toy for evil geniuses wanting to take over the world, what comes next in our step towards the future? Being able to levitate objects, even if it’s not true anti gravity technology, could end up being the inspiration for some amazing technology and I, for one, can not wait to see what comes next.

All great ideas have to start somewhere, and although the current anti gravity platform is small it may lead to big things. While it is cool, it makes me wonder what someone would be using this technology to do?
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly interesting but it seems like the next step to the wheel. When I think anti gravity, I think floating chairs or platforms like in SciFi movies. Sure that's revolutionary in its own way but doesn't the wheel work fine enough right now?
ReplyDeleteLike Michael said, it seems like the first step in the right direction for this type of technology. This could lead to whole new inventions and many engergy saving methods if friction could be eliminated in situations.
ReplyDeleteIn the video, it said that the experience of anti-gravity must not have any modifications, and the internet bought devices had some modifications that enabled it to float, so I think it's a long way until a device for anti gravity could be created without the effects of modification, but this is not a bad start.
ReplyDeleteThats really interesting and another poke at further advances in technology. I just hope our technicians take a step back to see if this is really hellping our society or is it adding to the clutter of new inventions.
ReplyDeleteCertain things in our culture, 100 years ago sounded as far fetched as anti-gravity is today. It will be shocking to see what the norm will be in the far future.
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a cool advancement in technology. And as a response to Emily's point, I think that even if it is just "adding to the clutter of new inventions" that it isn't a bad thing. If the inventor is not able to find a helpful way to use the anti-gravity machine in society, who is to say that someone else wouldn't. And maybe the person who finds a a positive way to use this technology would not have been able to come up with the anti-gravity technology.
